Maria Kulikovska created this self sculpture by using molds of her body. It is an imposing life-size sculpture which easily captures the attention of the room. Kulikovska’s attention to detail creates a life-like presence within the sculpture. The pale colour used in the material represents the purity and vulnerability of the female body. This is disturbingly contrasted by the chains and red paint, where the chains illustrate the parts of women that are often exploited and must therefore be protected. Meanwhile, the red paint represents those moments in which such protection was not enough.
