This work is part of a series exploring slag heaps (terrikons) — post-industrial landscapes shaped by mining and geological extraction. Rather than documenting these sites directly, the painting reimagines them as spaces of transformation, where altered terrain becomes entangled with fragile ecological return.
Bare trees rise above a glowing field of undergrowth, their branching forms creating a rhythmic structure across the surface. Through heightened colour and dense texture, the landscape shifts between familiarity and estrangement, bringing every surface to life and suggesting a quiet vitality emerging from disrupted ground.
