Maria Kulikovska
This piece is one of only three sculptures from Kulikovska’s ‘Pregnancy’ series. She creates a mould of herself during pregnancy and fills it with bullet casings and roses. Kulikovska collected the bullet casings from military fields in Bakhmut and the flowers were gifted to her by a closing flower shop, as the family business could not support itself after losing their son in action.
Kulikovska uses these sculptures to show how women’s bodies are affected by their surroundings and highlights the implications of this during pregnancy and raising children.
