Maria Kulikovska’s series consists of watercolour drawings painted on a variety of documents that she received from migrational offices. Although migrational forms appear dull and tedious by themselves, Kulikovska depicts the stories and human experience that they represent. After her grandmother from Crimea visited her in Kiev, Kulikovska had the overwhelming feeling that this would be the last time she sees her, and so she began pouring out these emotions onto these migration forms. The large use of red throughout the series depicts the overpowering feeling of loss and struggle. From a soft rose to a bright explosion of red, each watercolour painting illustrates an emotional experience which one could not otherwise imagine from an ordinary printed document.
